Just Women Project Volunteer Mentors (female)

Salary £0 (unpaid post - out of pocket expenses paid

POSTED 15/09/2010

Do you have an interest in social justice? Would you like to support women in making positive changes to their lives? We are always recruiting for volunteer mentors to support our Project Outreach Workers in the work they do with women accessing the project. This is potentially quite an intense volunteer role and you will need to have experience of, or a strong interest in, supporting vulnerable women. You will need to feel comfortable supporting women in areas such as family issues, substance misuse, homelessness and accommodation issues and domestic violence. This will be a rewarding volunteer experience and excellent experience for women considering future work in areas such as social work, criminal justice or the legal profession. Opportunities are available across Leicester and training will be provided.

We are always on the lookout for young mums to train as Peer Educators. The experience can be life-changing and we are able to provide you with all the help and support you need including free training, childcare and travel expenses. You’ll have an opportunity to develop your knowledge about sex and relationships and learn how to lead a group. Many young women on this programme move on to work and training and it’s especially good if you’re thinking about a career in health and social care, nursing, education, youth work or community development work. Even if you’re not sure what you want to do with your life, the programme can give you advice and support to find the opportunities that are right for you.
