Have you been inspired by what we are do? Would you like to do something similar in your community?
If our projects and services dont currently operate in your community we are always interested in developing new partnerships to expand our work and meet the needs of other communities. With over 22 years experience of working in the community we can work in partnership with you to set up and develop "off the shelf" or bespoke packages of project work and training in your community. Alternatively we can work with you and help you become more successful at what you do through training, consultancy and support to enable you to grow your organisation or replicate some of our effective models of working.
Learning from us
We are able to offer high quality training, resources and consultancy in getting your project off the ground. Whether it’s work with young parents, sex and relationships education, peer parenting support or peer family learning we can come out to your organisation, train your staff and volunteers in the approach, provide high quality, regularly updated resources, advice about project management, policy development etc and provide ongoing consultancy and coaching to make your project a success.
Family Learning and Support
Family Learning Activities
We have a proven track record of engaging and supporting families in schools and other community settings and we are able to offer a variety of servces and activities that can help schools and Children's Centres meet their core offer. Activities include fun family courses, one-off workshops and National Open College Network accredited courses for parents and volunteers.
Involving parents in delivering family learning
We have developed an effective model of delivering family learning in communities using a “peer education” approach which trains local parents to reach out into the community and engage with families to support them to take part in learning activities either in the home or in the community. This approach has delivered real results and is very effective in engaging with families who have not previously accessed other services. We can help your organization deliver something similar in your community using our excellent tried and tested resources.
Parenting Support
As part of work with parents we have developed an effective and accessible peer education based parenting programme called the REAL Project. Named by parents who took part in the project, REAL stands for Respect, Empathy, Acceptance and Love – the essential qualities they felt underpinned successful, positive parenting. The programme was developed with the input of a UKCP registered Psychotherapist and is based on the principles of Transactional Analaysis – an easy to understand theory of personality which can provide an effective framework for personal growth and change. The REAL project provides an excellent model of involving parents in parenting programmes and we have developed a high quality resource pack and training programme to accompany the project.
Teenage Pregnancy and Young Parents
Would like us to work in your school or youth setting ?
“Takes 2 Project…” is currently funded to deliver sessions to local schools in teenage pregnancy “hotspot” areas across Leicester City and County. If we are not currently working with you we can deliver bespoke packages to your young people. These can be anything from one day Sex and Relationships “conference” delivered by a team of Peer Educators to an entire school year or an ongoing series of sessions to smaller groups. We are also currently developing an NOCN qualification in Sex and Relationships which could be delivered to young people in your school setting.
Would you like us to help you set up and run a Peer SRE project in your area ?
As well as coming out and delivering SRE in your school or youth setting we can also offer support to you in setting up your own Peer Education SRE project. As well as being a great way of delivering SRE to young people, it’s a great way of improving outcomes for young parents and their children including encouraging healthier lifestyles, increasing confidence, improving parenting skills and getting young parents back into education training and employment.
Are your service young parent friendly ?
As part of ongoing commitment to enabling young parents to actively access mainstream provision we are able to come out to your setting and advise on how to make your service more accessible and attractive to you parents. We can carry out an assessment and make recommendations, deliver a young parent led training session called “Though the Eyes of Young Parents” designed to help you think about your service from the perspective of a young parent or carry out a peer consultation with young parents in your area.
